How to Get to Vieques
Getting to Vieques is easy and convenient, with several transportation options available. Whether you prefer to fly or take a ferry, you’ll find a method that suits your travel style. Here’s a quick guide to help you plan your journey to our beautiful island.
Flying to Vieques
The easiest and most direct way to get to Vieques is to fly. Early booking is strongly suggested as flights sell out quickly. Remember that booking must be completed directly through the airline websites, and small aircraft have strict baggage weight restrictions.
From San Juan (SJU or SIG): Jumper planes leave from San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín Airport (SJU) and from the nearby regional airport (SIG) several times a day via carriers like Vieques Air Link.
From Ceiba (RVR): Flights from the José Aponte de la Torre airport in Ceiba are more economical but require ground transportation from San Juan (approximately a one-hour drive).
Taking the Ferry
Daily passenger ferries depart from the Ceiba terminal. While this is the most economical option, it requires advance planning.
Booking: Tickets should be purchased in advance at Puertoricoferry.com, as they sell out well ahead of time.
Duration: The trip takes approximately 30–60 minutes, docking in the town of Isabel II.
Important Note: Rental cars from the mainland are not allowed on the ferry.
Getting Around the Island
While you can relax at our crystal-clear salt system pool or enjoy the view from our wrap-around veranda, exploring the island’s hidden gems is a must.
Vehicle Rentals: If you plan on exploring in depth, we strongly recommend renting a Jeep or small SUV well in advance.
Concierge Assistance: Our staff can provide local recommendations and help you navigate car rental options or taxi services to ensure you reach the most secluded beaches and spots.
Beach Ready: No need to pack heavy gear; we provide coolers, chairs, umbrellas, and towels for your island excursions.
Please note: Flights and ferries generally run between 6am and 6pm, not overnight. Please plan your flights to San Juan accordingly
